When my daughter, Jie Yu was 6 and my son, Jie Yang was 9, I started looking for piano teachers for them. I wished my kids could join piano lessons in a music centre as they will have the opportunities to perform on stage besides lessons learning. Through Google searching, I found Ideal Music. After browsing through their website, their well-managed website impressed me and brought my kids to the enrolment. They were coached under Teacher Ying Duan, a soft-spoken and patient teacher. My kids were feeling comfortable with Teacher Ying Duan’s coaching. All the students in Ideal Music are given the opportunities to perform on the stage through its showtime program and they even had the chances to participate in the “Uncover Talent”, a collaboration program between Grand Millennium Hotel and Ideal Music. They were blessed to gain the experience of performing at the hotel stage and be confident to perform in front of the public.
Jie Yu was switched to Ms Nicole for practical coaching when she was 7. Ms Nicole is an experienced chief piano coach in training students for all levels of competitions. She is very encouraging, patient, dedicated and cheerful. She always observes and has well-planned lessons that suits her students. Jie Yu improved tremendously in her technics and skills after taking part in several competitions. She is more confident to practise difficult pieces now after the achievements in the competitions.
Being a principal of the centre, Ms Nicole is very humble, polite and ever ready to communicate openly with the parents and students. She shows her role model not just as a passionate music educator but also a resourceful entrepreneur in music industry. Under her leadership, Ideal Music provides teaching and performance job opportunities to its music graduates. This serves as an important practical platform for the music graduates who wish to become a music educator.
This is the fifth year my kids having piano lessons in Ideal Music despite the one-hour- travelling journey weekly. I am glad that we found Ideal Music and met the passionate teachers. Currently, Jie Yu is coached under Ms Nicole and Teacher Wei Yin for practical and theory lessons while Jie Yang is coached under Teacher Wei Yin. I believe both my kids will be more perseverant in their music learning journey under Ms Nicole and Teacher Wei Yin’s guidance.
